We weren't sure if we would try taking him to see fireworks today since he's so little so we decided to take him to the Twins game for the 4th of July. We were a little hesitant, but he did WONDERFUL!
Here is a recap of the experience:
- 1st inning: Landen happy but hungry. Slowly eats his bottle (cuz it's cold) and decides he wants to blow bubbles and spit milk everywhere. Thinks this is hilarious and smiles at me non-stop, making more milk drip down his face.
- 2nd inning: Still working on bottle. Distracted by all the clapping and cheering, but all in all is a happy camper. Take a trip to the restroom. LOVES the changing table. Diaper's wet and weighs about 5 pounds. Get stopped by a 90 year old woman who is obsessed with how cute he is. Proceeds to kiss and tickle his feet and then give both me and him a hug. (Awkward)
- 3rd inning: Nap #1. Daddy gets mommy a hot dog and nachos and I eat while he is sleeping.
- 4th inning: Awake now. Checking out the kids sitting to the left of us and wishing he was wearing one of their Circle me Bert hats. Sees another kid eating a chocolate chip cookie and gets jealous.
- 5th inning: Tired of watching the game, not much action. Decides he wants to turn the other way and watch mommy make funny faces and noises at him.
- 6th inning: Starting to get fussy, but not bad. Mom takes about 3 trips up the stairs where no one is sitting and does the mom sway standing up. Sit back down. Figures out how to squeal really loud. We think it's excitement, but not sure. Either way, the loud shrieks, which we've never heard him do before, make us laugh really hard.
- 7th inning: Sings the God Bless America and Take Me Out to the Ball Game songs with mommy and the rest of the Metrodome. (see video clip)
- 8th inning: Nap #2
- 9th inning: Still napping. Crowd gets louder and louder. Wakes just in time to watch Joe Nathan strike out the last player. Twins win! Take another trip to the changing table. Happy again.
- Leaving the dome...gets about 3,000 "awww cute" and "look at the baby!" comments. Get to the car and he is the happiest boy ever. He starts giggling non-stop and makes me and Justin laugh really hard yet again. Successful first ball game!!
After making dinner and feeding Landen his, I decided we should go for a family walk around the neighborhood once it got dark out. It's nice that fireworks are legal in MN now because I knew we'd see some just walking around. It was a blast! We took Shyla and Landen for a little walk in the dark outside and there were fireworks all around us. Shyla was scared and Landen loved them. He kept cooing which was really cute. At times though, I think he was more interested in the stoplights, street lights, and passing headlights. The weather was perfect for our little stroll and it was so nice to be close to home (in case of a meltdown), avoid the crowds and traffic and we still got to see fireworks.
It was a great day!
