Landen has come to be well aquainted with the nursing staff, receptionists, and doctors at Allina Clinic these past few weeks and mom & dad have forked out about $100 in co-payments. Poor Landen caught something from daycare yet again. We brought him to the doc on Saturday after we learned Landen may have been exposed to H1N1 and Croup last week. Landen started developing a cough on Friday which made mommy and daddy nervous. Everything checked out okay on Saturday and the doctor gave me the same recommendation I assumed I would hear. Rest, fluids, humidifier, steamy shower, and cold air. On Sunday, his cough worsened and he started to have a wheezing sound when he would breath. Because daddy has had asthma all his life, that wheezing sound sent shivers down our spine. Daddy stayed home with Landen on Monday and worked hard to get fluids down him. He hasn't had much of an appetite over the past 2 or 3 days so we know he doesn't feel well. He is a tough little cookie though. He smiles and plays as if nothing is wrong but we can tell there is. I was able to squeegy out lots of green goodies from his nose. He also spiked a fever of 100.4 last night. I stayed home with him today and brought him back to the doc. After listening to his lungs, the doc wasn't comfortable with what she was hearing and ordered for a nebulizer treatment. They took his oxygen level before the treatment and it was 98% (good). After the treatment, this dropped to 93% and I could see the nervous look on his doctor's face. She said this wasn't horrible, but not good. If it was 91%, we would have to go to the hospital. She decided to do another 1/2 dose of nebulizer and afterwards, his oxygen level increased to 96/97 percent. She sent us home with the nebulizer and we're supposed to do treatments every 4-6 hours. She also prescribed Tamiflu as a precaution since he was potentially exposed to H1N1 last week.
Here's a picture of our little trooper getting his nebulizer treatment at the doctor's office...

He was wiped out after the visit and quickly fell asleep. While I always place him on his back to sleep, Landen automatically flips to his tummy now and sticks his butt up in the air.

So now, we're just keeping a careful eye on him. If his wheezing worsens or he's not eating, we have to take him to the hospital. Please keep Landen in your prayers that he stays healthy and this does not happen.
